Tis the season! (well not really, but close enough) This time of year always throws me for a loop. The kids start school and the craft industry goes into holiday overload! I start to get crazy anxiety about Halloween costumes, October Daily albums, December Daily albums and Christmas shopping. *laugh* I try to tell myself that it will be fine and then I always end up scrambling at the last minute ... then I make a promise to myself that NEXT year will be different. Uh-huh.
For today's card I'm combining a couple of the new SEPTEMBER Essentials by Ellen release products! This release was a big one and it was really hard to choose my favorites. I started by die cutting the Ginger House dies. I cut off everything but one of the panels that has the triangular roof to create this card front. Then I die cut the tiny door for the gingerbread dude.
Once the house part was cut from white Neenah cardstock, I stained it with some Distress Ink in Wild Honey. Next I stamped the scalloped roof from the Ginger House stamp set with Versamark embossing ink and embossed it with some Ranger Super Fine Embossing Powder in white. I did the same to the little gingerbread dude, a candy cane and a gumdrop. I used some Nuvo Crystal drops in black on the bow tie of the gingerbread dude to add some depth.
I used some Lawn Fawn dies (they're listed below) to create the background for this card. I blended Distress inks in Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass to create the sky as it fades into a snowy ground on the stitched rectangle. I really like using those Birch Trees by Lawn Fawn for wintery backgrounds. *eep!* The Lawn Fawn Sentiment Banners are also a fave of mine if you're looking for some basics to keep in your card kit. *laugh*
