Now that both of my boys are in school they get invited to a lot of birthday parties, so I am always looking to build my stash of masculine cards. I used the Plaid Maker to create a simple checkerboard background for this card. It reminds me of the old Van's shoes from the 80's that all the cute skater boys used to wear (cue the Avril Lavigne song now).
I used my Memento Luxe inks for this card because I like the texture they leave when they're used with the solid square stamp. I used Teal Zeal for the background, then alternated Teal Zeal with Nautical Blue for the small banner.
I used the small plaid image and stamped it on Neenah Solar White 80lb Cardstock. Then I die cut it using the "Friend" sentiment from the Block Words dies. I used a little piece of Glad Press'nSeal on the letters so that they remained with equal spacing. I put some Tombow glue on the back and gently lifted the Press'nSeal up leaving perfectly spaced letters! YAY!
I used my We R Memory Keepers typewriter to type up a quick sentiment. Then I cut it out and attached it to the banner. The banner is attached using some foam tape so it's slightly raised. I wanted some shadows behind the letters for some depth.
I used Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock for the card base. I cut the paper lengthwise so that I end up with a card that opens on the short side. It was a quick and simple card that will be easy to reproduce in a time crunch!
