Hey, Ghoul Friend!

It is the holiday season! I am really enjoying all the all the holiday projects that are popping up in my Instagram feed this week. Lots of new Halloween and Christmas releases happening! I decided I’d share some details on a Halloween card I made with this month’s Essentials by Ellen release.

The Dynamite Halloween set has lots of fun little accessories, but it can be used for just about any occasion. Today I paired it with all the Halloween accessories included in the set for a festive bright green card. I colored the images using my Copic markers and die cut them to be arranged on this card front.

This card is pretty straight forward, but I wanted to share it because of the inks I used to create the blended background. Have you seen the neon inks by Gina K Designs? I was so happy to see these colors when they were released! I knew exactly how I wanted to use them and ordered them to test an idea I had!

I cut down a piece of white cardstock to create my card background. Then using a blending brush, I applied some of the Screamin’ Green ink from corner to corner. Then I pulled out my Chipped Sapphire Oxide ink and applied it to the other two corners. I went back and forth between the colors in the areas where they overlapped to get a smooth transition. I was so happy to see how nicely they worked together! I wasn’t sure what I’d end up with, but I was pleased to see the result. They’re dye inks, so they blend similarly to the older Distress Inks in my opinion.

There are some really fun neon colors and I’m planning on using the red on some Christmas cards, so stay tuned! Have a great day and happy crafting!
